J. Alphonse Nicholson wed his longtime love, Nafeesha Nicholson, in a lively Los Angeles ceremony on Friday, Oct. 7.
J. Alphonse, who's widely known for his role as Lil' Murda on P-Valley, recently spoke with Essence magazine and shared intimate details about their relationship.
They exchanged vows at the Vibiana, a cathedral turned event hall in LA, in front of 150 of their nearest and dearest friends and family — including some celebrity guests like Lance Gross, Miriam A. Hyman, Sheria Irving, Jerry O’Connell, and Adrian Marcel, who performed during the reception.
They also added sentimental touches to their wedding, like when J. Alphonse performed a drumming number on buckets, which served as a sweet dedication to his wife, who met him back in 2016 when he was an up-and-coming actor who used to "beat on buckets as a drummer in NYC subway stations to make ends meet."
It was a surreal moment for the newlyweds, especially because they were forced to push back their wedding multiple times after getting engaged in 2019, due to the pandemic.
While quarantining together along with their children — J. Alphonse has a son from a previous relationship and Nafeesha has a daughter — they decided they couldn't wait any longer, so they legally tied the knot. They then planned their "actual wedding" for when pandemic restrictions loosened.
