As soon as the finale of the Palm Beach period comedy, Palm Royale aired this spring, we were already wondering if a season two is in the works.

In an interview with T&C, producer and star Laura Dern referenced a "first season" of Palm Royale which led us to believe a second season was not entirely out of the question. "I know with Mike White, when we were developing Enlightened, that was always a gorgeous question to ask: How can something stand on its own, and be cinematic and true, and then how can you just also start all over again?" she says of the possibility of a season two. "As producers, that's been I think a really fun thing to learn about in story. And [writer] Abe [Syliva]'s done a brilliant job and a bold job at doing that."

Stars of Palm Royale have also said they'd love to return for a second season, including Ricky Martin, who plays Robert. He told T&C, "I would love to have a season two!"

In June 2024, Apple TV+ made it official, and renewed Palm Royale for a second season. "Palm Royale has delighted global audiences and we are thrilled that viewers will have the opportunity to spend more time with this highly entertaining, iconic cast, from Kristen Wiig to the incomparable Carol Burnett," Apple TV+ head of programming Matt Cherniss in a statement. "We can’t wait for everyone to experience the next brilliantly witty chapter in the lives of the Palm Beach high society set that Abe Sylvia, Kristen, Laura Dern and this incredible team behind the show have brought so vibrantly to life."

Dern added, "We are so thrilled to hear about season two. Jayme [Lemons] and I with Jaywalker Pictures have been dreaming up this project for so long in hopes that audiences would have delicious fun with the radical ride that is the world of Palm Royale. We all can’t wait to get started."

The show was loosely based on Mr. & Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel, which does not have a sequel. However, since the Apple TV+ show differed from the novel, there's a chance the writers will continue to take the story in a new direction.

The first season of the series was nominated for 11 Emmys including acting nods for Kristen Wiig and Carol Burnett, as well as a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series, and one for Outstanding Main Title Theme, which they won.
