'Pamela Anderson doesn't speak for me': 'Baywatch' alum bashed for criticizing #MeToo

Pamela Anderson is known for baring all — and she’s doing that with her opinions about the #MeToo movement.

In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, the Playboy pinup and Baywatch actress talked about the movement, which has seen women and men share their stories about being sexually harassed and assaulted. She said she’s not a fan of this “wave of feminism.”

“I think this feminism can go too far,” she said. “I’m a feminist, but I think that this third wave of feminism is a bore. I think it paralyzes men.”

She continued, “I think that this #MeToo movement is a bit too much for me. I’m sorry; I’ll probably get killed for saying that.”

Anderson didn’t end there. She criticized disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein’s many accusers — similar to sentiments she expressed on Megyn Kelly Today last year.

“My mother taught me don’t go to a hotel with a stranger,” Anderson said. “If someone opens the door in a bathrobe and it’s supposed to be a business meeting, maybe I should go with somebody else. I think some things are just common sense.”

She jokingly added, “Or, if you go in, get the job. I’m Canadian, I’m going to speak my mind. I’m sorry, I’m not politically correct.”

While Anderson doesn’t think #MeToo has helped feminism, many are saying she’s the one not helping feminism.

Anderson has spoken about being molested by a female babysitter as a child and having nonconsensual sexual experiences with men early in her life. She told Us Weekly that appearing in Playboy magazine “empowered” her. “It really saved my life. I felt very trapped inside and needed to free myself. It was a breakthrough for me, and there I met artists and activists and gentlemen. It has been a fun and wild life.”

On Megyn Kelly Today last December, Anderson said she had been offered private auditions, condos, and even Porsches by Hollywood types in exchange for roles. “Don’t go into a hotel room alone,” she said. “If someone answers the door in a bathrobe, leave. Things that are common sense. I know Hollywood is very seductive and people want to be famous, and sometimes you think you’re going to be safe with an adult in the room.” When her comments provoked outrage, she wrote on her website, “I’m trying to tell women … be proactive as an adult who knows better — in defending themselves. Don’t get in cars with strangers. … Don’t go to hotel rooms alone for an audition. … To say I am victim blaming completely misconstrues my point. Victims are not to blame, they never are. … Predators are always to blame — solely and entirely. That doesn’t mean we can’t take common sense measures to keep ourselves safe and avoid harmful situations.”
