Paralympian's inspirational 'DWTS' performance will give you the feels
Season 25 of Dancing With the Stars got off to an inspirational start when ESPN host and former Paralympian Victoria Arlen put on an incredible performance. Victoria’s dance was particularly amazing, considering she was paralyzed for 10 years.
Victoria fell ill when she was 11 and slipped into a vegetative state for four years. She started walking only about a year and a half ago, so even though she didn’t get the highest score of the night, just being out there on the dance floor was a victory for her. During her post-dance interview with host Tom Bergeron, Victoria said, “This is beyond what I could have ever hoped or imagined.”
The best of the rest
As for the rest of the cast, electric violinist Lindsey Stirling and Hamilton star Jordan Fisher were the best dancers of the night, each scoring 22 with the judges. But one-half of the Property Brothers, Drew Scott, on the other hand, needed some renovating. Judge Len Goodman told Drew, “If you were a house, you would be a fixer-upper.” Married couple Nick and Vanessa Lachey both hit the dance floor, and Vanessa edged out her hubby the first week, 21 to 18. And WWE champion Nikki Bella body-slammed her dance partner. Meanwhile, her life partner, John Cena, tweeted that he was proud of her for stepping out of her comfort zone.
