When the movie It starring Clara Bow came out in 1927, it presented the concept of an “It girl” to our society—a woman with undeniable appeal, a sort of je ne sais quoi, who alters trends and captures the fascination of the general public. Since then, there have been countless iterations of It girls, from the Swans of the ’60s who recently got the Ryan Murphy treatment, to the It girls of today like Zendaya, Hailey Bieber, and Taylor Swift. But for those who grew up in the early aughts, it was a reality TV-starring, Chihuahua-touting heiress who defined what it meant to be an It girl: Paris Hilton. And she continues to capture our attention today.

Just look to her latest Instagram post, where Hilton teased the idea of her status as she showed off a glittering gold minidress from Ludovic de Saint Sernin. “It Girl blueprint ???,” the mom of two cheekily wrote in her caption.

The sparkling, spaghetti-strap number was distressed, with holes that were filled with shiny draping chains. The sides of the dress also featured cutouts, with silver laces zig-zagging across them. Finally, there was a decorative strap that stemmed from the center of the piece and looped around Hilton’s neck. She paired the dress with equally dazzling fingerless gloves, gold heels, and a pair of diamond star-shaped earrings.

This piece is reminiscent of some of the Simple Life star’s most memorable looks, like the iconic chainmail Julien Macdonald dress she wore to her 21st birthday party, or that glittering gold mini she wore for Will.i.am’s charity event in 2012. If there’s one thing that Hilton is really proving, it’s that she’ll never lose her It girl status.
