Paris Hilton has linked up with Rina Sawayama for a new song, “I’m Free,” the latest offering from Hilton’s upcoming album, Infinite Icon (out Sept. 6).

“I’m Free” pairs gossamer synths with club pop percussion, with Hilton and Sawayama singing on the chorus, “I’m free/To do what I wanna do/It’s my life/I’ll do what I wanna do/I wanna see the sunrise, dance under the moon/I can be here all night if I wanted to/Cause I’m free.”

The song was inspired by Ultra Naté’s 1997 house hit, “Free,” which Hilton first heard at a New York City club not long after she was released from a Utah boarding school, where she said she was physically and mentally abused.

“For me, the song represents the journey of healing and finding your voice,” Hilton said in a statement (via Uproxx). “It has served as an anthem of hope and a guiding light and I’m honored to have had the chance to create this new version. I’m also so grateful to have Rina Sawayama’s mesmerizing vocals and lyrics on the song. Together, Rina and I hope to inspire fans around the world to embrace their own strong voices and feel free to fully express themselves.”

Hilton announced Infinite Icon at the end of May, marking her first album in nearly 20 years (she’s yet to share an official track list). The reality star first dabbled in music all the way back in 2006 with her song “Stars Are Blind,” and debut album, Paris. Over the next two decades, she released a handful of one-off singles, like 2013’s “Good Time” and 2015’s “High Off My Love.” She also appeared on tracks by Steve Aoki and Sia.

Hilton seemed to kick off this new era of music at the end of 2022 when she made a surprise appearance at Miley Cyrus’ New Year’s Eve show to perform “Stars Are Blind” with Cyrus and Sia. A refreshed version of “Stars Are Blind” with Kim Petras arrived in 2023, as did a new single, “Hot One.”
