Pat Sajak Honored for First Time Since 1998 With Major Award

Pat Sajak's final episode hosting Wheel of Fortune aired on June 7, ending his 41-year run of helming the popular game show. Soon, Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White will return to kick off Season 42—but before they do, Sajak was honored with a major award for the first time since 1998,

On Saturday, Sept. 7, the 77-year-old won the Outstanding Host for a Game Show category at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys. Sajak was not present to accept the honor, for which Steve HarveyKen Jennings, Jane Lynch and Keke Palmer were also nominees.

The official Wheel of Fortune Instagram account announced the news on Saturday evening, writing, "Congratulations to our iconic host, Pat Sajak, on his Emmy for Outstanding Host for a Game Show! ????."

Meanwhile, the game show host's daughter, Maggie Sajak, took to X (formerly Twitter) to react to the honor.

"So proud of this one on his Emmy win!" she wrote alongside a photo of herself and her father. "He also gets the award for best dad@patsajak."

In the comments, fans praised the elder Sajak for his achievement, with one X user writing, "Congratulations, Pat! Well deserved! Thank you for all your years of entertainment!!."

Another fan commented, "Love your dad!! Congratulations and blessings to you all!!"

Someone else shared, "Well deserved and he has done amazing.."

Sajak's Creative Arts Emmy win for his final season of Wheel of Fortune is his first in 26 years. He was nominated 23 times in total.

Previously, he won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Game Show Host in 1993, 1997 and 1998 before the category switched to the Primetime Emmys in 2023.
