Pat Sajak returns to TV this fall to host ‘Celebrity Wheel of Fortune’ on ABC
TV game show host Pat Sajak may have taken his last spin on “Wheel of Fortune” last month, but come fall, the former Maryland resident will be back on the wheel — for celebrities, only.
Starting in October, Sajak will host a final round of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” on ABC, the network said in a news release Wednesday announcing its coming fall lineup.
“Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” will air Mondays at 8 p.m. during select weeks when “Monday Night Football” is not being broadcast. “Press Your Luck,” a game show hosted by Elizabeth Banks, will air in the slot immediately following “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune.”
The fall premiere episodes of both game shows are set for Oct. 7.
“Monday Night Football” is set to air on ABC on Sept. 9, 23 and 30, Oct 28 and Dec. 9, 16 and 30. The Baltimore Ravens will appear on “Monday Night Football” twice this season — Oct. 21 and Nov. 25, but both times the game will air on ESPN.
Sajak, who hosted “Wheel of Fortune” for 41 years before retiring on June 7, will reunite with Vanna White for the fifth season of the celebrity version of the popular game show.
Sajak was a longtime Anne Arundel resident after marrying Gambrills native Lesly Brown. The couple lived in Annapolis and then Severna Park. He now reportedly lives in Los Angeles.
Ryan Seacrest is the new host of “Wheel of Fortune,” sharing the stage with White as they launch another era. A premiere date for the syndicated game show’s next season has not been set, but is expected to be in mid-September.
