Patti LuPone still knows nothing about the MCU, has never seen an “Avengers” movie, wants to fight Ryan Reynolds
Not Deadpool. Ryan Reynolds.
Patti LuPone, who has openly not given a f--- since Evita, may be a new entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she still has no idea what it's about.
But don't cry for her, MCU, the theater legend also has no intention of learning about it, despite starring in the buzzy new Marvel show, Agatha All Along.
Oh, and she's also got a bone to pick with Ryan Reynolds.
At the premiere of Agatha All Along, a spin-off, more or less, of the acclaimed WandaVision, LuPone spoke candidly (as if she knows any other way) about her familiarity with the franchise and story. When asked how much she knew about the MCU before filming Agatha, LuPone defiantly told Variety, "Nothing. Still don't."
She had, however, seen WandaVision — three times — though she admitted she didn't understand it at first.
"I finally understood a little of it," she added.

LuPone went on to say that she does actually know what Agatha All Along is about, but she can't tell you or she'll "get beat up by Marvel security."
As if any would be surprised at this point, the Broadway vet also conceded to never having seen an Avengers movie. But does she want to see any of them?
"I don't think so," she said melodically and perfectly on pitch. "Maybe I should say I want to because I want to be in the Marvel Universe."
She knows she wants to play either "a good witch or a villain" but when pressed on what Marvel superhero she would want to fight, LuPone goes blank.

"I don't know anything about them," she said. "Is Deadpool, are they Marvel?"
Deadpool has in fact just recently joined the MCU, after slicing and dicing under Fox since 2016. Score one for LuPone! Who also knows that Ryan Reynolds plays the masked vigilante.
"I would fight Ryan Reynolds," LuPone concluded, sounding rather sure of herself. "I have no idea what Deadpool is, but I would just fight Ryan Reynolds."
Ryan Reynolds may have tangoed with Hugh Jackman, but even that Broadway baby knows you don't mess with Patti Effing LuPone. Especially when she's in the middle of a performance in that most hallowed of arenas, the theater. Put LuPone and Reynolds in the Shubert and we all know who's walking out alive.
This is also the same woman who ate a "death wing" rather than apologize to Madonna, who is terrifying in her own right, for calling the pop icon a "movie killer." They just don't make 'em like LuPone anymore, so our money would definitely be on the two-time Tony winner. All those years of superhero training go down the drain when confronted with a flawless vibrato.
