It may not have a hot tin roof, but it was Newman’s own. A Colonial Revival-style Beverly Hills abode that was home to silver screen icons Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward is now available to rent for $45,000 a month, the New York Post reports. The Long, Hot Summer stars, who were among the biggest names of Hollywood’s Golden Age, rented the space in the early 1960s. Their tenure at the property was immortalized by the New York Daily News, which photographed the duo lounging in the roughly 4,300-square-foot house in 1962.

The Beverly Hills house was set to hit the market for about $8 million in December of last year, but it appears that the owner, photographer Taylor Anne Crichton (daughter of Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton) has decided to hold onto the 1937-built home for the time being. Per listing records, she paid $7.35 million for the pad in 2021.

A red brick-paved driveway leads guests past a bocce ball court, ample gardens, and citrus trees up to the crisp white dwelling, which is located on a 1.2-acre plot near Mulholland Drive. Inside, a living area features moody dark wood floors and a black wood-burning fireplace. A massive blue-and-white kitchen, tucked away in its own corner of the home, connects to a walk-in pantry equipped with wine storage.

Each of the residence’s four bedrooms feature ensuite baths, and two of them have private balconies. The primary suite is complete with a windowed dressing room lined with mirrored wardrobes.

A cabana-shaded patio on the home’s rooftop hosted an open-air gym the last time the parcel was listed. European-style gardens laced with walking paths can also be found outside, alongside spaces to dine alfresco, a swimming pool and spa overlooking the tiered gardens, and a romantic loggia decked out with a barbecue, a sofa swing hoisted up with rope, and an ivy-covered stone fireplace. Other highlights of the house include vaulted ceilings, wooden built-ins, and an office nook.

Newman and Woodward, who each earned an Academy Award for Best Actor/Actress, were married for 50 years until Newman’s 2008 death. Woodward, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2007, turned 94 years old this year. The couple also kept a longtime primary residence in Westport, Connecticut.
