Paul Rudd, Blake Griffin, Key and Peele Bring the Laughs for Red Nose Day
A whole bunch of stars showed up to help raise over $30 million for the Red Nose Day special on NBC. While there were many funny sketches and pretaped bits, only a few stood out from the rest, and two of them involved Paul Rudd, NBA star Blake Griffin, Keegan-Michael Key, and Jordan Peele.
In one sketch, Paul Rudd pledged that he would donate $5,000 for every 3-pointer that Griffin could make in three minutes. Griffin’s not really known for his outside shooting ability, so Rudd didn’t think he’d have to pay that much. Unfortunately for Rudd, and fortunately for the kids, Griffin was draining threes one after another. The Ant-Man star started to get uneasy with the number of shots the L.A. Clippers star was making and even tried to block some of the shots. In the end, Rudd was on the hook for $100,000, but his pen “ran out of ink” so he couldn’t write the check.
Key and Peele also ended up donating more than they wanted to when their competitive nature triggered a vicious cycle of donating. As the comedians continued to one-up each other, they moved past just giving money, as they both expressed their wishes to give their blood, their soul, and even their bodies. By the end of the sketch, Key and Peele were living on the streets, and they ended up being the ones who needed donations.
