Peacock Hikes Subscription Prices Ahead of 2024 Paris Olympics

A price hike is coming to Peacock.

The NBCUniversal streaming service plans to raise the monthly and annual fees for its Peacock Premium and Premium Plus tiers, with the changes set to take effect before this summer’s Paris Olympics.

Peacock Premium will rise in price by $2 per month to $7.99, while Premium Plus will rise by $2 to $13.99. The annual fees will rise to $79.99 and $139.99 accordingly.

The price changes will go into effect July 18 for new customers, and beginning Aug. 17 for existing subscribers. The Paris Olympics opening ceremony is scheduled for July 26.

The price increase will be the second one in as many years for Peacock, which hiked the price of its Premium tier by $1 a year ago, and Premium Plus by $2. Premium Plus removes ads from on-demand entertainment programming, and includes NBC’s live local channels, among other features.

However, the company is betting that it has a stronger value proposition this time, coming off its exclusive NFL wild card playoff game, the success of Oppenheimer and the upcoming Olympics. The company has revamped its Olympics experience for this year’s games, adding multiview and a Gold Zone whip-around program to its roster, as well as a watch party hosted by Alex Cooper.

And Peacock will get another exclusive NFL game next season, when the Eagles and Packers face off in S?o Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 6.
