Peaky Blinders Movie Casts Tim Roth
The Peaky Blinders movie just bagged another star in the form of Tim Roth.
The Oscar nominee joins Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy, as well as Rebecca Ferguson and Barry Keoghan, in the long-awaited feature-length movie based on the BAFTA-winning Peaky Blinders series.
Confirmed by Deadline, Roth’s role is currently unknown, but he’d be well-suited to play the high-profile villain of the piece. He faced off against Edward Norton in The Incredible Hulk, and featured in Pulp Fiction as a small-time thief. His career highlight came in 1995 when he was nominated for the Best Supporting Actor award for his role in Rob Roy.
While Roth is a new addition to the Peaky Blinders universe, there are plenty of old hands to steer the ship. Not only does Murphy returning to reprise Birmingham gang leader Tommy Shelby, a character he’s played for six seasons since the show’s inception in 2013, but Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight is on writing duties.
Tom Harper is set to direct the Peaky Blinders movie, which starts filming in September. He’s already helmed several episodes of the series, as well as 2019’s The Aeronauts with Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones. The Peaky Blinders movie will be made in association with BBC Film.
