Pearl Jam Latest Act to Cancel North Carolina Show Due to Anti-LGBTQ Law

Following the freedom-rock lead of artists like Bruce Springsteen and Ringo Starr in taking a stand against the prejudicial bathroom laws of North Carolina, Pearl Jam have canceled their Wednesday gig in Raleigh. In a statement posted to their website, the band call the state’s recently passed House Bill 2 a “despicable piece of legislation that encourages discrimination against an entire group of American citizens.” Rather than perform as scheduled, the band say they “have communicated with local groups and will be providing them with funds to help facilitate progress on this issue.”
