Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament Makes a Bold Declaration About Taylor Swift
Jeff Ament, Taylor Swift
When it comes to Taylor Swift and her music, everyone has an opinion. What's most interesting in the discourse about her discography is fellow musicians weighing in—and recently, Pearl Jam's Jeff Ament made a bold declaration about the pop superstar.
Recently, Ament and his bandmate, Eddie Vedder, sat down for an interview on The Bill Simmons Podcast. Host Bill Simmons brought up Swift's Eras Tour, and both members of the rock band praised the "Fortnight" singer's music.
"A couple records ago, choosing to work with the Aaron Dessner guy from The National, like Bon Iver, those songs to me are the most interesting songs," Ament shared. "Because I think that palette I like."
The bassist then praised Swift for her willingness to experiment with her music—going so far as to suggest an occasional "anti-pop" approach.
"I think she's, you know, I think she's not afraid to change and change in a way that maybe is kind of anti-pop in some ways, you know?" he continued. "Which is, I have huge props for that."

Meanwhile, the Pearl Jam lead vocalist has become deeply acquainted with Swift's music.
"I know from my daughter that she's really kind of incredible at planting these little hidden codes. And she changes it up, and there's talk about what she played that night," Vedder explained. "And you know, she's incredibly prolific. So she's able to just kind of keep putting out music and putting out music."
He added: "I mean, my daughter turned me on to this one B-side that I just think is incredible. It's just an incredible song."
In the comments of a clip from the interview shared via a Swift Instagram account, Swifties reacted to the Pearl Jam rockers' interview. One person wrote, "Talent recognizing talent. I’m here for it!!"
Another Instagram user commented, "You know you've made it when Vedder compliments you ????."
Yet another person shared, "I have always dreamed of a @pearljam and @taylorswift collaboration! My heart would explode!"
