Penn Badgley Embraces Viral TikTok Trend, Has 'Demure' and 'Mindful' Last Day Filming Season 5 of “You”
"I don't really do too much when I'm at work," the actor says. "I'm very... mindful"
Penn Badgley is feeling very demure, very mindful.
The Gossip Girl alum embraced the viral TikTok trend during his last day of filming You season 5 in New York. In a Instagram collab post with Netflix, Badgley, 37, poked fun at the trend, documenting his final day on set.
"You see how I show up to work?" he begins the video speaking directly to the camera, lugging around lots of stuff. "Very demure, very mindful."
"I don't really do too much when I'm at work," he continued. "I'm very... mindful." The video then quickly cuts to him banging on a glass wall, screaming.

Badgley then mentions that he portrayed "a romantic icon for five seasons" calling himself "modest" and "mindful." (As fans know, his character, Joe Goldberg, is a serial killer, so this description isn't completely accurate.)
He then mentions his gray tank top, saying, "You see my shirt? Showing the shoulders, not the boulders."
The clip calls back to TikTok creator Jools Lebron's August video speaking about how she presents herself as "demure" when at work. Demure is defined as reserved and modest, and the term has been taking over the internet.
“You see how I come to work? Very demure, I do my makeup, I lay my wig, I do a little braid,” she said in the video. “I flat iron my hair, I do chichis out, I do viral vanilla, very demure, very mindful. Let’s not forget to be demure divas.”
Since the video took off on TikTok, Lebron has been reminding followers to be "mindful" and "considerate" throughout many facets of life, such as behaving on planes, ordering food and going to the nail salon. Now everyone, including Badgley, appears to be embracing the terminology and using it any chance they can.
Netflix confirmed in a press release in March that the series had begun production on the fifth and final season, which promises "more thrilling twists and turns."
"Will Joe Goldberg finally get his judgment day? Fans of the beloved thriller will soon know more about Joe's fate when YOU returns for a fifth and final season," the streamer teased in a press release.
Since then, Badgley has been photographed multiple times on set while he films the thriller series across New York City.
