People are convinced this statue of baby Jesus looks like Phil Collins: 'It was all decided in Genesis'
Singer Phil Collins, the man behind hits from as far back as the 1981 track “In the Air Tonight,” is being celebrated with a statue at a church in Mexico. The only issue is that the subject of said statue is supposed to be baby Jesus.
The New York Post, citing Central European News, reports that the work of art was commissioned by Rev. Humberto Rodriguez of La Epifanía del Se?or church in Zacatecas, Mexico. Sculptor Roman Salvador produced a 22-foot-tall piece that weighs in at 2,000 lbs. and strongly resembles the former Genesis frontman.
And we do mean strongly.
Rodriguez reportedly said the statue turned out larger than he’d expected, and that he now suspects the statue is the largest one of baby Jesus in the world. He’s already contacted Guinness World Records. However, he declined to comment on any similarities between the statue and Collins.
People on social media were happy to do that for him, often using the titles of Collins’s own songs or tracks he released with his former band.
This is equally awesome and disturbing. Also, where can I get one? https://t.co/KKrKpgX8WB

There was also a contingent of people who believed the statue looked a lot like another celebrity: Nicolas Cage.

The real-life Collins has yet to comment.
He’s busy celebrating this month’s 30th anniversary of his hit album ...But Seriously, which, appropriately enough, featured the songs “Something Happened on the Way to Heaven” and “Another Day in Paradise.”
