Perry Farrell apologizes for onstage fight that caused cancellation of Jane’s Addiction tour

Perry Farrell, lead singer for Jane’s Addiction, apologized to his bandmates and fans in a statement to Variety after a fight broke out on stage Friday.

“This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family and friends for my actions during Friday’s show,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in inexcusable behavior, and I take full accountability for how I chose to handle the situation.”

Jane’s Addiction decided to pull the plug on the rest of their reunion tour after fans caught the scuffle between Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro.

Videos of the fight show Farrell singing loudly into his mic and then lunging at Navarro, eventually taking a swing at him. The guitarist held his arm out to keep Farrell away before others pulled Farrell off stage. The show ended shortly after.

Navarro shared an Instagram post on Monday morning apologizing to the fans for the fight and the tour cancellation.

“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current US tour,” the post’s caption read. “Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs.”

In collaboration with bandmates Stephen Perkins and Eric Avery, Navarro’s post ended by saying “We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis. Our hearts are broken.”

The band also issued a statement to fans on Monday that refunds for the canceled dates will be available at their point of purchase, or by reaching out to third-party resale sites.
