Peso Pluma postpones Milwaukee concert and others — again — and cancels another show
Peso Pluma’s much-anticipated Milwaukee debut has been pushed back — again.
The breakout regional Mexican star will no longer perform at Fiserv Forum Nov. 4, according to the event page on the Milwaukee arena’s website.
No reason was given, a new date has yet to be listed, and Pluma hasn’t addressed the postponement online.
It’s not the only show affected. An Indianapolis concert set for Halloween and an Alabama show set for Nov. 2 also were postponed, while a Chicago-area show scheduled for Oct. 29 was canceled.
Those shows, and the Milwaukee concert, originally were scheduled for September. Reasons for the original postponements were not specified, but on Sept. 12, when the announcements were made, the Arizona Republic reported that Pluma had received a death threat allegedly from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel over a concert scheduled for Oct. 14 at Caliente Stadium in Tijuana.
According to the report, a banner signed by the cartel and posted in a Tijuana subdivision read: “This goes to Peso Pluma, refrain from presenting yourself on October 14, because it will be your last show due to your disrespect and loose tongue, you show up and we are going to (break you).”
Pluma has referenced the Sinaloa Cartel, the main rival of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, in songs like “GAVILáN II,” a narcocorrido from his blockbuster album “Genesis.” Narcocorridos are songs whose stories are related to drug dealers, a long-established tradition in regional Mexican music. Pluma ultimately canceled the Tijuana show.
Previously purchased tickets for Pluma’s Fiserv Forum concert will be honored when the show is rescheduled. Refunds will be available once a new date is announced.
