Pharrell Reportedly Pushed For New Clipse Album, Duo Says Reuniting Was “Always A Possibility”
It’s been 15 years since Clipse’s last album, but now Hip-Hop heads everywhere are sitting on edge awaiting the duo’s highly-anticipated comeback album.
Many believe the LP is titled Let God Sort Em Out, per Pusha T’s Instagram, and will likely be produced by Pharrell.
Malice also confessed to PEOPLE that Pharrell has “definitely been pushing for [the new album] and we always knew in the back of our heads it was always a possibility.”
He added, “So when things just started to take shape, and the timing was right, I think it just came [together] just as it should.”
The brothers reportedly had no “ground rules” when creating the new LP. “It’s a thing of either you gonna do it or you not,” Malice shared, who left the group for spiritual reasons back in 2009.
Elsewhere in the chat, Pusha told the outlet that the new album is for those who love actual albums.
“I don’t think we’ve heard a full body of work in so long musically,” said the Daytona emcee. “There’s just an overall taste and tone that does not deviate from song 1 to 13. It doesn’t, so you really get to fall into a world.”
He continued, “This isn’t based on looking for the hit or this or that. This is like, come and step into this world and close the door behind you. And I think people are going to get a taste of that and get that feeling again. Like I said, that’s not what is being pushed in the new streaming era.“
As far as the reunion is concerned this time around — considering they’ve come back together on a smaller scale in recent years — Malice expressed, “I’m all about what we have built together as Clipse, keeping the same branding. The plus side, for me, is that I sat down for a while and took inventory of myself, my life, my own personal evaluations of things, and I think it’s going to benefit the listener and have something more to offer. I think it’s a beautiful thing, and I’m honored to be back together with my brother as Clipse.”
