Dax Shepard Reveals His Daughter’s ‘Fast-Pass’ To Make Him Cry & Now We’re in Our Feels
Dax Shepard has just done something we wish more men would do: He’s admitted to crying. And that might seem like a minuscule thing for us to have on our [evergrowing] wishlist for society, but it’s huge for kids to see and know that crying is natural and healthy and OK. And to know that the emotions that lead to crying are not something to shut down or be ashamed of. So when a parent cries (especially a dad because gender norms tremble at the thought of a man shedding a tear), it’s a win for kids’ physical and mental health.
Anyhoo! *Steps off soap box* In a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, the actor admitted that his wife Kristen Bell can easily make him cry.

All the actress has to do is sing.
“She’ll host a charity event or something and she’ll sing, and every time I think ‘I can’t believe you can do that. It’s just so incredible,'” he said. “So I always cry when she sings.”
But it’s not just Bell singing that gets him anymore. The couple shares daughters Lincoln, 11 and Delta, 9, and Lincoln has started doing musical theater.
“And now I go [to her shows] and I cry the whole time she’s singing.”
But the quickest way to get some waterworks out of Shepard is if Lincoln teams up with Bell for a duet. “If they sing together, I cry,” he said. “That’s pretty much a fast-pass to me crying — either of those ladies singing.”
How sweet is that?! Now we’re getting all choked up just thinking about it.
Shepard was later asked what he has become an expert on as a dad of two girls, and he had two immediate answers: Taylor Swift (“I’m a Swiftie. I’ve got bracelets.”) and “where ponytail holders are.”
“They’re everywhere, by the way,” he joked. “Just look. Just open your eyes. If you’re looking for a ponytail holder, odds are you’re next to one.”
But don’t let the mock annoyance fool you. The Armchair Expert host gushed about fatherhood during a 2023 SXSW panel.
“Nothing compares to being a dad. It is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me,” he said, per PEOPLE. “When I have failures in life, I get to come home and still be Dad.”
“It is the most transformative experience. You can feel it’s why you are here.”
