Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Taylor Swift

Popeyes is a certified Taylor Swift fan–and yes, we're talking about the fried chicken chain.

On Wednesday, May 15, the brand took a page from the pop superstar's handbook and revealed its latest deal offer in a style the "Fortnight" songstress would certainly approve of.

In honor of National Customer Appreciation Day on Friday, May 17, the quick service restaurant is giving back to its loyal fans by offering a free Golden BBQ Sandwich (in the form of 600 bonus points) with any purchase valued at $10 or more.

Clearly, it's not the freebie that's making us think Popeyes has bad blood with one of its competitors, it's the way the company went about promoting it.

Alongside a black-and-white photo featuring a fried chicken sandwich resting on a pillow–an obvious nod to the artwork associated with Swift's latest studio album, The Tortured Poets Department–the nationwide fast food chain also included a message with a riddle (or an Easter egg as Swifties would say).

The promotional text read: "pOPEyes says thaNks! rewardS members: yoU caN enjoy a golDen bbq sAndwich on us when You Spend $10."

At a passing glance, you may miss the hidden message spelled out in capital letters: "OPEN SUNDAYS," an apparent yet very subtle dig at Chick-fil-A, Popeyes' competitor that's notoriously closed on Sundays.

Professional digs and Swiftie status aside, Popeyes' Golden BBQ Sandwich is brand-new to menus, so even if you're a fan of both chicken chains (and not Miss Americana), this is a pretty opportune time to try out the menu item–or whatever else you want to redeem those free 600 bonus points for.

Popeyes rewards members can score the limited-time offer now through Sunday, June 30, but only at participating restaurants. The official offer terms also clarify the deal is not available through third-party delivery apps, so you're best off ordering directly from Popeyes.
