Popular Asheville taqueria, brewery part ways after 5-plus years

ASHEVILLE - A longtime taco-craft beer collaboration has come to an end on the French Broad River.

On June 28, Zillicoah Beer Co., at 870 Riverside Drive in Woodfin, announced via social media that ties have been severed with its full-time resident food provider Taqueria Mu?oz.

Zillicoah’s social media post states:

“After five and a half years, it’s time for both Taqueria Mu?oz and Zillicoah to move on to the next chapter in our respective lives. Effective immediately, Mu?oz will no longer be serving at the brewery. Trust that we are working on getting back to food 7 days a week, but in the interim, there will certainly be days where we don’t have food service. We’ll do our best to let you know what trucks and pop-ups will be here and when. As always, please feel free to bring food when you join us, or even order something for delivery. We wish the best to Juan and the rest of the Mu?oz crew in their next endeavor.”

Zillicoah Beer Co. and resident food truck Taqueria Munoz are located on the riverfront of the French Broad River in Woodfin, just outside of Asheville.

Taqueria Mu?oz’s brick-and-mortar restaurant is open at 1428 Patton Ave. in West Asheville. The local, family-owned restaurant serves traditional Mexican cuisine, such as tacos, sopes, tortas quesadillas and burritos.

A message was shared on the business's social media page:

"We want to thank zillicoah beer co. for the great opportunity they gave us for 5 and a half years to be there and especially our customers and friends we made throughout the years. Thank you for the love and support. We will keep yall updated on where we will go next. It's not a good bye from this food truck but a see yall real soon"

Zillicoah has not confirmed if permanent food trucks will replace the taqueria or other plans for regular in-house food service.

However, the brewery provided on its website a schedule of rotating food trucks that will serve guests on Saturdays and Sundays.:

  • July 2: Smokees Pizza & Mary's Mountain Cookies.

  • July 8: The Smokin' Onion.
