Popular Chicago hot dog restaurant expanding again in metro Phoenix. Here's when and where
Iconic Chicago hot dog chain Portillo's is opening a new location in Queen Creek later this year. It will be the chain's seventh location in Arizona, and the first in Queen Creek.
The 7,800 square foot restaurant will seat 180 customers inside, with room for an additional 50 on the outdoor patio. It will also have a double lane drive thru.
“Arizona has been a great market for Portillo’s,” said Portillo’s CEO Michael Osanloo in a release. “We’ve loved serving the Phoenix area since first opening in Scottsdale in 2013. Queen Creek gives us even more opportunity to bring our unrivaled Chicago street food to both longtime fans and newcomers to Portillo’s.”
How many Portillo's are in Arizona?
Portillo's began in Chicago in the 1960s and has since expanded to become a national chain. They serve hot dogs, beef and sausage sandwiches, chicken, char-broiled burgers, ribs, salads and Barnelli's pasta.
There are currently five locations in metro Phoenix and one in Tucson. The Queen Creek location, which is currently hiring employees, will be the seventh restaurant in the state.
The restaurant is scheduled to open at some point this year, but an opening date has not yet been announced.
