Pots-n-Prints offers learning opportunity for kids at annual Arts Festival
The Lubbock Arts Alliance will welcome Pots-n-Prints to the Lubbock Arts Festival scheduled for April 8-10 at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, 1501 Mac Davis Lane.
Pots-n-Prints is a mobile studio that takes printmaking and ceramics to the rural areas in Southwest and West Texas.
Pots-n-Prints will be at the festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 9.
The mobile studio consists of a trailer that accommodates a mobile kiln, etching press, screenprinting press and 10 potters wheels. During the duration of their one-day visits, participants can create ceramic artwork, engravings and screenprints. The ceramic artwork is glazed and fired in the portable kiln.
Since its inception in 2013, Pots-n-Prints has travelled to more than 30 locations and worked with more than 20,000 individuals.
The project is facilitated by Mario Kiran, chair, Department of Arts; and Christopher Stanley, associate professor of art; and their students from the University of Texas Permian Basin.
Children are welcome to create their own pot and T-shirt at the festival while supplies last.
This complimentary activity is included with general admission to the Lubbock Arts Festival, which is $5 for adults and children 12 and younger admitted free with a paid, accompanying adult.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or online in advance at selectaseatlubbock.com or by calling (806) 770-2000.
