Tommy Egan’s not done with the Windy City, and the Windy City’s not done with him: Power Book IV: Force will be back for Season 3, TVLine has learned.

“The fan response to this action-packed season of Force has been incredible,” said Kathryn Busby, STARZ president of programming, in a statement. “They’ve made it clear that they need more Tommy and we’re thrilled to deliver. Christmas has indeed come early!”

In the Season 2 finale, which aired on Nov. 10, a joint task force raid aimed at taking down Tommy actually wound up nabbing Claudia and Mirkovic — Tommy’s biggest competitors. Afterward, Tommy and his business partner, Diamond, were able to lock down a significant piece of the city’s drug trade by positioning CBI as the Serbs’ successor. But Egan’s elation over his business victory was short-lived when he realized that his girlfriend, Mireya, was in danger — or maybe dead? — after her brother, a rival drug dealer, realized she was dating Tommy. The upcoming season, then, likely will reveal what has become of Tommy’s missing lover — as well as the fate of Lili Simmons’ Claudia, who was brutally stabbed (on Tommy’s orders) while in jail awaiting her trial.

When TVLine spoke with Sikora after the Season 2 finale, he pointed out how aspects of the character’s friendship with James “Ghost” St. Patrick in the original drama are coming to the fore as Tommy builds his own empire. “Ghost has always existed in Tommy. Tommy has always existed in Ghost,” he said. “When it was necessary, those elements had to come out. Now that Tommy’s out of his comfort zone of New York City, now that Tommy doesn’t have Ghost, these elements of Ghost — I love how Gary has them coming up. And that Tommy, this checker player, is now playing chess.”
