A Power Rangers series that had been in development at Netflix for more than two years has powered down.

Sources confirm for TVLine that the live-action series — which counted Daisy & the Six co-exec producer/veteran Supernatural story editor Jenny Klein as its showrunner, working in collaboration with Power Rangers franchise overlord Jonathan Entwistle — is no longer moving forward at Netflix.

Power Rangers owner Hasbro Entertainment in turn is exploring a new creative direction for the series, TVLine hears, and with a new partner.

TVLine has reached out to Netflix for comment; X’s Spider-Jin aka @Jinsakuu first reported on the series stalling.

The first Power Rangers series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, debuted more than 30 years ago, in 1993, and has spawned many offshoots and movies — most recently including Power Rangers Dino Fury/Power Rangers Cosmic Fury and a Mighty Morphin reunion special (read our review), all for Netflix.

Entwistle, who co-created Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This and co-created The End Of The F***ing World for the streamer, in October 2020 was tapped to oversee the development of both television and film enterprises for Power Rangers — as he once dubbed it, a Power Rangers “cinematic universe.” (“Jonathan has an incredible creative vision for this iconic and hugely successful franchise, and is hands down the right architect to join us as we reimagine the television and film worlds of this property,” eOne execs Nick Meyer and Michael Lombardo said at the time.)

In June 2022, Klein, coming off of NBC’s The Thing About Pam, inked a two-year overall deal with eOne, under which she would develop genre- and drama-based content and serve as showrunner on the Power Rangers series.
