Prince Harry Confirms Return to U.K. for Milestone Anniversary Event

While Prince Harry is permanently living in the United States with his wife Meghan Markle and their two kids—Archie and Lilibet—amid the ongoing royal family drama in the U.K., he will be making his official return to Britain at the start of May for the Invictus Games anniversary.
The BBC confirmed that Harry would return for a special event celebrating the international sports competition for ill or wounded serving and veteran military personnel. The royal launched the Invictus Games in 2014.
On May 8, a thanksgiving service will take place at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, where attendees will reportedly celebrate "a decade of changing lives and saving lives through sport," a spokesperson told the publication. Harry will attend and give a reading there, while British actor Damian Lewis will also recite a poem at the event.
Neither Markle nor the couple's children have been confirmed as attending. They may stay back in Montecito, Calif., where the family lives, while Harry makes the trip alone.
This will be Harry's first trip back to the U.K. since his February visit to see his father, King Charles III after he announced his cancer diagnosis. During a mid-February visit to Whistler, British Columbia, where the 2025 Invictus Games will take place, Harry touched on the trip to see Charles. "I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could," he told ABC News.
"Look, I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him, I’m grateful for that," he continued before mentioning that he had future trips to the U.K. planned. So I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can."
Charles will reportedly resume some of his public duties next week, starting with a visit to a cancer treatment center, with Buckingham Palace announcing that doctors were "very encouraged by the progress" made so far in Charles' cancer treatment.
