Adjusting to life after childbirth can be a swirling vortex of emotions, so it makes a huge difference to have support. A great example? At this week’s WellChild Awards in London, Prince Harry reassured Meghan Markle about her body after giving birth — making sure the Duchess knew she looked “amazing” five months after the couple’s firstborn child, son Archie, was born.

An annual event, the WellChild Awards celebrates the inspirational qualities of seriously ill children and their caretakers. While at the ceremony on Tuesday evening, Harry and Meghan spent time chatting with honorees, including 10-year-old Emmie Narayn-Nicholas (who was recognized for her Emmie’s Kitchen initiative) and her mother, Eve, according to People.

Eve revealed that Harry gave his wife a sweet compliment during their chat, as Hello! magazine reports. “They were very lovely. When she sat down, I said, ‘Oh, you look amazing and you’ve just had a baby,'” Eve recounted, adding, “[Harry] looked at her and went, ‘See, I told you!’ in a way that we would.”

So, we can make two inferences here. First, Harry and Meghan have clearly had this conversation before, during which he obviously talked her up. Second, Harry and Meghan are super-chill — which tracks, if you ask Eve. “It did feel like they were very down to earth,” she said of the new parents.

Being a supportive husband to Meghan wasn’t Harry’s only standout moment at the WellChild Awards. In fact, there were surely many moving interactions between the Duke and honorees that the public will never be privy to. But we did get to share in one special moment from the evening: Harry’s emotional speech, which was caught on camera.

“Last year, when my wife and I attended, we knew we were expecting our first child — no one else did at the time, but we did — and I remember…” Harry said, trailing off as he became visibly overwhelmed by his emotions.

After a few moments (and some encouragement from the audience), Harry continued, “I remember squeezing Meghan’s hand so tight during the awards and both of us thinking what it would be like to be parents one day and more so what it would be like to protect and help our child should they be born with immediate challenges or become unwell over time. And now talking to all of you as a parent pulls at my heartstrings, in a way I never could have understood, until I had a child of my own.”
