Prince Harry Showed Just How Committed He Is to His Post-Royal Life With Meghan Markle in Montecito
Prince Harry’s passion for the Invictus Games always shines through when he’s promoting an event. He and Meghan Markle work their charm and always seem invested in the athletes’ journeys — it’s one of their best projects to date. They want to make the 2025 games a huge success, so that means at least one sit-down interview with the media.
Will Reeve at Good Morning America was the lucky journalist selected this time around and he managed to elicit a curious nugget out of the interview. While British tabloids love to spin the narrative that the Duke of Sussex is miserable with his life in the U.S., Harry tells a much different tale. “It’s amazing,” he said about his life in California. “I love every single day.” Of course, his family life with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2, factors into this equation, but it goes deeper than that.

Harry is considering becoming an American citizen. “The American citizenship is a thought that has crossed my mind, but certainly is not something that is a high priority for me right now,” he told Reeve. His life is going so well that he is considering taking the citizenship test, maybe not now, but it’s a possibility. The Duke of Sussex would be able to retain his U.K. status since both countries allow for dual citizenship. That’s how warmly he’s been welcomed to the U.S. — it feels like home.
U.S. citizenship isn’t a priority for him right now because he’s still working his way through the royal family feud and his father King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis. He believes that his dad’s illness may help speed up their reconciliation. “Throughout all of these families, I see it on a day-to-day basis,- again, the strength of the family unit coming together,” he shared. “So, yeah, I think any illness, any sickness, brings families together. I see it time and time again, and that makes me very happy.” It may work for father and son, but the future of his relationship with Prince William is unclear.
Now that Prince Harry has revealed his true feelings about life in Montecito, the British tabloids can’t harp about the decision he made to leave the senior royal ranks. Harry is happy, and he’s allowed to miss aspects of his U.K. life, but he’s only looking ahead to life in the U.S.
