Prince William Reportedly Meets With MI6 Ahead of Major Royal Event
Prince William is gearing up for one of London's most anticipated events with a private meeting with MI6, the British Secret Intelligence Service, new reports reveal.
On Thursday, June 13, the Prince of Wales is said to have quietly made his way to a private meeting with security officials, just days ahead of the highly-awaited Trooping the Colour event taking place in the city this weekend.
A record of the meeting was reportedly published on Friday morning in the Court Circular—the daily list of official royal engagements–per The Telegraph. The official notice appears to have been removed, as Parade could not confirm the update at the time of writing.
The entry in the Court Circular read simply, “The Prince of Wales this afternoon visited the Secret Intelligence Service,” with no location or additional details given, and according to the outlet, Kensington Palace declined to comment on Thursday's visit.
Though there is little information about the 41-year-old prince's visit with MI6, it's presumed the meeting could have been precautionary and related to the security measures being taken ahead of the king's annual birthday parade celebration on Saturday.
Several other royal family members are presumably headed to London for the June 15 festivities, but Kate won't be one of them.
The Princess of Wales has already apologized for her absence, noting that she's very proud "of the entire regiment ahead of the Colonel's Review and Trooping of the Colour," adding, "I appreciate everyone trooping this year has been practicing for months, and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate."
