Nearly two months after the Princess of Wales announced she had completed her chemotherapy treatment—about six months after sharing her cancer diagnosis—the Prince of Wales opened up about his wife’s wellbeing.
“She’s doing really well,” William, 42, told Sky News Nov. 6, while he was in South Africa to accept the Earthshot Prize. “Hopefully she’s watching tonight and cheering me on. She’s been amazing this whole year, and I know she’ll be really keen to see tonight be a success.”

Indeed, Kate, 42, proved she’s on the mend last month after making a public appearance alongside William to visit Southport, U.K. During the royal’s first public engagement since completing her chemotherapy, she and William coordinated maroon outfits—with Kate in a polka dot dress and William in a similar-colored sweater and gray suit jacket.
The couple’s excursion centered around paying respects to the families of Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Bebe King, 6, who were all fatally stabbed during a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class in the seaside town.
And while their visit came over two months after the July attacks, Kate and William—who share kidsPrince George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6—wanted their visit to express that the victims of the brutality had not been forgotten.

“As the healing continues, take comfort in the incredible support around you,” the couple wrote to the community in an Instagram post shortly after their visit Oct. 10. “Each shared memory, act of kindness, and moment of unity brings hope for the future and ensures that those lost are never forgotten.”
For her part, Kate had shared her own health update in September along with announcing the completion of her chemotherapy treatment, expressing gratitude for her progress.
“The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” Kate wrote in a Sept. 9 Instagram post. “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved.”
Still, the Princess of Wales noted that her journey is far from complete.

“Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she added. “I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can.”
