Princess Beatrice's ex-boyfriend Paolo Liuzzo was recently found dead in Florida. He was 42 years old.
The Miami Police Department confirmed that Liuzzo was discovered at the citizenM Worldcenter hotel in the heart of the Southern beach city around 3 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 7, The Sun reports.
An official cause of death for the art industry consultant has not yet been disclosed, though it is being investigated as a possible drug overdose. "The investigation is open and ongoing," Officer Michael Vega of the Miami Police Department said.
Sources alleged the man had struggled with drug addiction, and had several encounters with law enforcement over the years, including due to cocaine possession.

The body of the deceased was flown back to his native town of Long Island, New York, where he was laid to rest during a funeral service on Feb. 16.
“Paolo was not doing great on a personal level. He loved to party and gamble. He began using a lot of pharmaceutical drugs but that later led to cocaine and harder drugs. It was a very fast lifestyle and we all feared it would catch up with him eventually,” a friend of Liuzzo's noted, according to the outlet. “He was always borrowing money to pay loans. It became a vicious cycle.”
Princess Beatrice was just 17 when she started seeing the then-23-year-old in 2005. Their relationship was later thrown into the spotlight when he attended her family's skip trip to Switzerland the next year.
However, Liuzzo had already been in legal trouble by that point, as an incident four years prior led to him being charged with the death of a student after a brutal fistfight in Massachusetts. The charge was later lessened to assault and battery, and as a result, he served 100 hours of community service.
The embattled individual was said to be unmarried with no children.
Princess Beatrice has not offered public comment on the matter.
