The Prodigy frontman Keith Flint has died at age 49
Keith Flint, the lead singer of The Prodigy, has died at age 49.
Flint was discovered unresponsive at his home in Essex, England, by police early Monday morning.
An Essex police spokesperson told British newspaper The Sun:
“We were called to concerns for the welfare of a man at an address in Brook Hill, North End, just after 8:10 a.m. on Monday. We attended and, sadly, a 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
Flint was the lead singer and founding member of The Prodigy, a group that played a central part in the rave scene of the 1990s.
Founded in 1990, the electronic music group from Braintree, Essex, boasted multiple international hits, including “Firestarter,” “Breathe,” “Smack my B**** Up” and “Voodoo People.”
The band released a statement regarding Flint’s death to British music publication NME.
“It is with deepest shock and sadness that we can confirm the death of our brother and best friend Keith Flint,” Liam Howlett and Maxim Reality said in the statement. “A true pioneer, innovator and legend. He will be forever missed. We thank you for respecting the privacy of all concerned at this time.”
A post on the band’s Instagram page also alleges that Flint died by suicide.

Flint had recently completed a tour of Australia and was set to tour North America this May.
