A movie based on the hit television show Scrubs has been teased for some time now, and according to series creator Bill Lawrence, it’s only a matter of time before one eventually comes out.

Speaking to Variety, Lawrence touched on the fact that the tough part of making a movie based on the hit show is that, because of how talented the cast was, the stars of the show are constantly working.

“In the greatest way, the cast of that show and the writers are so good that they’re all working,” said Lawrence. “And the main reason to do something like that isn’t the work, it’s because we actually love hanging out.”

Despite that, however, Lawrence said that it’s “inevitable” that one gets made, joking that it’ll likely happen the next time they are away from each other and get the itch to reunite.

“I think it’s inevitable that it happens,” Lawrence said. “The joke of it with us is the first time that six months go by that we don’t hang out, we’ll end up doing a Scrubs reunion.”

Originally released in 2001, Scrubs followed the lives of the employees at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital. The series starred Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Neil Flynn, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, Eliza Coupe, Kerry Bishé, Michael Mosley, and Dave Franco throughout its nearly 10-year run on television.

At its peak, the series was praised as one of the best sitcoms on television, with the show receiving 17 Emmy nominations in total throughout its run on television.
