Publishing Briefs: Jazz Musician Cameron Graves Gets Down With Spirit; Notting Hill Promotes Sebek Sanyika
— Spirit Music Group has signed songwriter and artist Cameron Graves, a founding member of jazz collective the West Coast Get Down, to an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement. In addition to working on Kamasi Washington‘s The Epic, he has also worked with Jada Pinkett Smith and hip-hop artists including Dr. Dre, The Game and Kendrick Lamar.
“Cameron Graves is a remarkably talented songwriter and artist who has achieved some amazing things throughout his career,” said Spirit Music chairman and CEO David Renzer in a statement. “His creative versatility and willingness to push boundaries make him a truly singular musician, and we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Spirit family.”

— New York-based Rough Trade Publishing has opened a Nashville office that will be headed by publishing executive Lynn Gann, who will continue to operate his own business Lynn Gann Music Enterprises. With the new office, Rough Trade now has four offices and 19 employees in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville and London.
Rough Trade Publishing — which was started by partners Lyle Hysen, Gandhar Savur and Ken Weinstein in 2007 as House of Hassle Publishing — has 400 songwriters including those affiliated with bands The War on Drugs, Grizzly Bear, Superchunk and others.
“Opening the RTP office on Music Row is very exciting for us as we grow our bands and catalog into one of the most vital music cities in the world,” said Rough Trade Publishing president Hysen in a statement.
