Queen Camilla taking break from royal duties after filling in for King Charles
It’s a break fit for a Queen.
Queen Camilla is taking time off from her royal duties after filling in for King Charles III amid his cancer diagnosis, according to her schedule reported by The Sunday Times.
The 76-year-old royal has no duties listed on the books for over a week before she returns from her break during the Commonwealth Day celebration on March 11.
She is scheduled to make a public appearance at Westminster Abbey to represent the crown to mark the celebrations of the 56 member states worldwide, according to the outlet.
The King’s siblings, Princess Anne and Prince Edward, will represent the crown at most upcoming events next week while the Queen enjoys some much-needed relaxation.
The royal siblings are scheduled to appear at the Rising Brook Community Church, Savoy Chapel, the Right Stuff Amateur Boxing Club, National Equine Forum and more outings while the Queen is on her break.
King Charles, 75, has taken a step back from his royal duties since he broke the news of his cancer diagnosis on Feb. 5.
The Palace revealed Charles’ diagnosis after he underwent a procedure for an enlarged prostate. There, doctors discovered “a separate issue of concern” that requires treatment.
Buckingham Palace later clarified that the cancer was not prostate cancer.
Queen Camilla has stepped up to the plate in his absence as he has started outpatient treatment.
She was seen attending a memorial service for Greek King Constantine II on Feb. 27. and at a reception for the BBC’s 500 Words Finalists at Buckingham Palace on Feb. 28.
Most recently, the Queen met with Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska at Clarence House on Feb. 29, according to the outlet.
She’s the fourth royal to take a break from her duties.
Heir to the throne, Prince William, has also been noticeably missing from events over the past few weeks as his wife, Kate Middleton, recovers from a scheduled abdominal surgery.
The Princess of Wales, 42, was admitted to the hospital for a planned procedure in mid-January, with Kensington Palace making an official announcement following her surgery.
While the surgery was “successful,” she remained at the London Clinic for 10 to 14 days before “returning home to continue her recovery.”
The Princess of Wales is not expected to return to official royal duties until after Easter.
Middleton made her last public outing on Christmas Day.
Though he’s mostly been looking after his wife, William made an appearance recently with “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” star Rob McElhenney.
The two were seen downing some shots together after the Prince traveled to Wrexham in Wales and visited The Turf pub, located next to Welsh soccer club Wrexham AFC, which McElhenney co-owns with Ryan Reynolds.
There, William was gifted Welsh dragon toys for his children — Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5. He was also given flowers for the Princess of Wales.
