'Queen of Christian pop' Amy Grant to perform at Palace Theatre on Oct. 19
Widely credited for putting contemporary Christian music on the map and often called "the queen of Christian pop," singer-songwriter Amy Grant will perform at the Palace Theatre on Oct. 19.

Grant, who rose to fame in Christian music as a teen during the 1980s, is a performer who's accomplished several firsts: the first contemporary Christian music artist to have a platinum record, the first to reach No. 1 on the pop charts, and the first to perform at the Grammy Awards.

Grant crossed over to the pop charts in 1986 with the No. 1 hit, "The Next Time I Fall," a duet with Peter Cetera. Her 1991 album, "Heart in Motion" stayed atop the Billboard Christian chart for 32 weeks and yielded her second No. 1 pop smash, "Baby Baby" plus three Top 10 hits on Billboard's Hot 100, "That's What Love is For," "Every Heartbeat" and Good for Me."
The 63-year-old Grant has racked up an impressive collection of awards including six Grammys and numerous Dove Awards, was inducted into the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2003 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006.
She also has authored several books including a memoir, "Mosaic: Pieces of My Life So Far."
