Queens Of The Stone Age Cancels 2024 Tour As Josh Homme Prioritizes Surgery Recovery
Rock band Queens of the Stone Age has canceled the remainder of its 2024 tour as lead vocalist and founding member Josh Homme prioritizes his health and medical recovery following an emergency surgery earlier this summer.
“QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows,” the group announced on social media yesterday. “Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year.”

The post continued, “Josh and the QOTSA family are so thankful for your support and the time we were able to spend together over the last year. Hope to see you all again in 2025.”
In the caption, the band advised festival ticket holders to consult the specific event sites for updated information. Further details about rescheduled dates are forthcoming from the sites purchases were made. Shows in Boston at the MGM Music Hall; Cincinnati, Ohio; Chicago and Madison, Wis. were postponed to next year. The concerts in Bridgeport, Conn.; Memphis, Tenn. and Mexico City were canceled.
The news comes following several cancellations earlier this summer in July, as the frontman experienced medical issues. On July 5, the band — which Homme formed in the late 1990s, as the sole continuous member — announced a cancellation with refunds “due to illness” for the AMA Festival in Vicenza, Italy. Queens of the Stone Age returned to the stage the following day in Milan. On July 9, it was announced that the singer-songwriter had to urgently return to the U.S. for emergency surgery, with the band writing that “every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue.” Remaining dates in July were canceled, with the band stating that it was “gutted” it wouldn’t be able to perform. The last update came on July 26, with the band writing that Homme was under doctors’ orders to remain in the U.S. to continue receiving medical care, leading Queens of the Stone Age to cancel the remaining leg of their European tour.
Homme was diagnosed with cancer in 2022, revealing last year that the surgery to remove it was “successful.”
