Queens of the Stone Age Have ‘No Choice’ but To Cancel All 2024 Shows Amid Singer's Health Battle

Fans of the band Queens of the Stone Age faced some difficult news last week when the band announced that all of their concerts scheduled for 2024 would be canceled or postponed to 2025 due to frontman Josh Homme's health.

The news was shared on the band's official social media, with a statement on Instagram saying, "QOTSA regret to announce the cancellation and/or postponement of all remaining 2024 shows. Josh has been given no choice but to prioritize his health and to receive essential medical care through the remainder of the year."

"Josh and the QOTSA family are so thankful for your support and the time we were able to spend together over the last year," the statement went on. "Hope to see you all again in 2025."

The post also listed the various canceled and postponed performances, with concerts in Boston, Cincinnati, Chicago and Madison all postponed while the remaining 2024 concerts were canceled.

Fans were sad that there would be no more concerts this year but were supportive of Homme and his health, with one writing, "There will always be music and tours, there’s only one Josh and QOTSA. Take care of yourself! ??."

"We will always be here. Your health first, we’ll be ready when you’re ready ??," wrote another loyal fan, while many more shared well wishes and hopes that Homme recovers soon.

The latest news comes after an initial announcement at the start of July that the band couldn't perform at the AMA Music Festival in Italy "due to illness."

A few days later, Queens of the Stone Age shared the update that Homme "must return to the United States immediately for emergency surgery."

"Every effort was made to push through and play for you, but it is no longer an option to continue," they added, canceling the rest of the band's July shows.

At the end of the month, QOTSA posted another update stating that "it is under doctors' orders that Josh Homme remain in their care in the United States," before canceling all August festival appearances. This then led to the band's most recent announcement about the rest of the year.

QOTSA hasn't shared any details about Homme's current health struggles, but the singer was diagnosed with cancer in 2022. In the summer of 2023, he revealed to Revolver that "surgery to remove it was successful, though he’s still healing." It's unclear if the current situation is related in any way.
