R&B/Hip-Hop Briefs: Ne-Yo & Meek Mill Join BET Awards Lineup; Hidden Beach Releases Jill Scott Greatest Hits Album

Ne-Yo and Meek Mill are the latest artists to join the performance lineup as the countdown begins for the 15th annual BET Awards (June 28). The pair join previously announced performers Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar and Chris Brown. Actress Laverne Cox is the newest addition to the presenter roster, which includes Michael B. Jordan and Zendaya. Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross are co-hosts for the live broadcast.

Under the apropos title Golden Moments, Hidden Beach releases a Jill Scott greatest-hits compilation encompassing the singer/songwriter’s 2000-09 tenure at the label. Available now (June 16) at major physical and digital retailers, the 16-track set includes such fan faves as “A Long Walk,” “The Way,” “Cross My Mind” and “He Loves Me (Lyzel in E Flat).” An extra added attraction: “I Adore You,” a never-before-released track produced by Carvin Haggins and Ivan Barias.

And in other BET-related activity, the cable network’s third annual BET Experience music and lifestyle festival (June 25-28) gets a free concert kickoff on June 20 at Los Angeles’ Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. Presented by Coca-Cola, the outdoor show stars Deborah CoxChrisette Michele and Jordin Sparks.
