Rachel Bilson Shares Insight Into Co-parenting With Hayden Christensen

Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen are always looking out for number one: their daughter Briar Rose.

The O.C. alum and Star Wars actor parted ways in 2017 after 10 years together, but have figured out a way to maintain an excellent co-parenting relationship for their 9-year-old.

"Everything's good," Rachel told People in an interview published Aug. 2. "Everything's in a really good place.

Of her daughter the 42-year-old added, "She is so beautifully flourishing and has the support completely surrounding her from every side."

Rachel also gushed about what a wonderful person her daughter is growing up to be.

"She is kind and that's the best thing that you can hear or want for your kid," the Hart of Dixie actress said. "And even other parents have shared that and that makes me very proud."

And with a close relationship, she and Briar are always able to be honest with one another.

"She talks to me," Rachel explained. "She is very open and will talk to me about things or what kids say at school or whatever it is, or, 'I felt sad.' It's just really nice that we have that dialogue."

And that honesty and openness is something that Rachel has cultivated not just in her daughter, but also in her own life and was part of the reason she launched her podcast Broad Ideas with best friend and co-host Olivia Allen.

"The whole reason for the podcast is to create a safe space," Rachel told E! News in November, "where people can talk about anything and be heard and accepted."

And that's just as true for the NSFW confessions she often shares on the podcast.

"My mom's quote to me my whole life is, 'It's none of my business what other people think of me,'" she continued. "I have to remind myself of that a lot, because I want to be like, 'Oh my god, I'm so sorry!,' or make excuses, or explain."
