Rachel Sennot's Met Gala Glam Was Inspired by a "Whimsical Journey Through Spring"
The films Bottoms, Ayo and Rachel Are Single, and The Idol all made me love Rachel Sennot. But the actress’ 2024 Met Gala makeup made me really love a good tightline. To complement the “garden in time" dress code this year, the actress teamed with makeup artist Lilly Keys to create what can only be described as a "whimsical journey through Spring—with a captivating contrast."
"We're shifting towards simpler, fresher makeup, using multi-use products that are easier to use," Keys exclusively tells Marie Claire about her approach to Sennot's beauty look, which was executed using a full range of Iconic London products. "This year, I predict more of us will be topping off our barely-there base with impactful smudgy liner or eyeshadow."
So, that's exactly what she created for the biggest the red carpet of the year. Keys opted for a "doll blush skin flush" using Silk Glow Duo in Rose Glow and Kissed by the Sun Multiuse Cheek Glow in So Cheeky. The light and airy aesthetic was then juxtaposed with a strong tightline and heavy mascara courtesy of Triple Threat Mascara, Smoky Eye Duo Kajal in black, and Elevate Eyeliner.
While Sennot seemingly kept her hair pretty simple in a slicked-back ponytail, it was actually a bit of an experiment. It just so happens that this is the first time the actress has styled her new haircut for a red carpet event. Just last month, she took to Instagram to share a hair transformation. “A bob changes everything,” she captioned a photo of her fresh haircut.
Here’s to more beauty experimentation from Sennot. Who knows, maybe her after-party glam will surprise us.
