CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Country music superstar Luke Bryan won’t be able to sing his hit song “Rain is a good thing” in southern Chesapeake Friday because of recent rain.
The several inches of rain our region has seen this week has led to the postponement of the concert planned for an open field at Heritage Park.

The Luke Bryan concert was originally scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m., but is now postponed until Sunday at the same time.
The change comes due to muddy conditions on the fields where the concert is to be held off of South Battlefield Boulevard, according to the City of Chesapeake.
Muddy tire tracks could be seen from Chopper 10 as crews attempted to set up Friday.
Although … a muddy concert would’ve brought new meaning to the song “Buy Dirt.”
Chesapeake Public Schools announced changes for several schools, due to anticipated traffic concerns relating to the concert. Southeastern Elementary School and Hickory Elementary School were expected to operate on an early release schedule on Friday, Sept. 20.
WAVY spoke with the Director of Communications for Chesapeake Schools Thursday after news of the concert postponement broke, and he said the adjusted schedule remained in place.
The City confirmed the parking area will open at 2 p.m. for Sunday’s rescheduled concert with doors opening at 5 p.m.
The city is providing updates about the concert on its website, at this link.
Social media updates from the City of Chesapeake said the priority remains safety for all involved with this event.
We appreciate your understanding as we work with the Luke Bryan Farm Tour staff to make these changes. Please monitor our sites and the Tour’s site for any additional updates, should the need arise.
