Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Coolie, has been generating buzz among audiences since the makers dropped its teaser. While fans eagerly await its release, recent reports have confirmed that filming for Coolie will commence next month.

Helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, makers initially announced the film under the tentative title Thalaivar 171. Recently, the makers unveiled its first glimpse with the title Coolie, receiving mostly positive reviews from the audience.

Although the director is famous for ventures like Vikram, Kaithi, and Leo, he has allegedly faced criticism for failing the Bechdel test. This means that the representation of female characters in Lokesh’s movies is overshadowed. However, the director recently emphasized that in Coolie, females will play an important role and create a memorable impact.

While the female lead actress for Coolie has not been officially announced, reports suggest that Malayalam actress Shobana is set to star alongside Rajinikanth. Additionally, there are indications that Shruti Haasan may play a significant role in the film. However, makers have not yet made an official announcement regarding this.

With Rajinikanth having recently completed filming for TJ Gnanavel’s Vettaiyan, he is now gearing up for his role in Coolie. According to 123Telugu, recent reports suggest that the filmmakers plan to commence principal photography for the latter on June 6, 2024. This schedule allows Rajinikanth to enjoy a well-deserved 3-week hiatus before returning to the set.

Reportedly, director Lokesh has increased his remuneration for Coolie following the massive success of Leo. He has raised his fees by 20%, allegedly charging around $7.18 million. However, Lokesh has not made any official statements regarding his remuneration.

Produced by Sun Pictures, the film will feature music by Anirudh Ravichander, with action sequences choreographed by the renowned duo Anbariv. Girish Gangadharan will handle cinematography duties, while Philomin Raj will oversee editing. However, details regarding the rest of the cast remain under wraps.
