Ramy Youssef's Golden Globe trophy searched by TSA, star suggests it's over 'Muslim name'
Even Golden Globe awards get searched at Los Angeles International Airport.
Ramy Youssef's freshly-minted Golden Globe statuette was flagged by TSA at LAX Tuesday, just days after he won best for lead actor in a comedy for Hulu's "Ramy."
Youssef, 28, documented going through security with his hardware on his Instagram Story, showing himself placing the boxed award in a standard luggage bin and pushing it onto the conveyor belt. It was subsequently flagged and further inspected.
"Is that part of the test or what?" Youssef said as a female TSA agent posed with Golden Globe award like she had just won. She then proceeded to wipe the statuette down for security tests.
Youssef playfully asked the agent, "Did it pass?" while sharing a laugh.

He added, "The 'random' checks you have to deal with when you have a Muslim name."
TSA did not immediately respond to USA TODAY's request for comment.
On Sunday, Youssef beat out the likes of Ben Platt (“The Politician”), Michael Douglas (“The Kominsky Method”), Bill Hader (“Barry”) and Paul Rudd (“Living with Yourself”) to win best actor in a comedy or musical for "Ramy," which follows an Arab Muslim family living in New Jersey.
Shortly after host Ricky Gervais opened the Globes telling winners to skip the political lectures and just "thank your agent and your God," Youssef was the first star of the night to win a prize.
"I would like to thank my God, Allahu akbar," Youssef said during his acceptance speech. "This is thanks to God and Hulu."
