Rapper, R&B star Jhené Aiko visits Tallahassee, spotted at locally owned CBD stores
While traveling from Sunrise, one of two Florida stops on her "The Magic Hour" tour, R&B singer-songwriter and rapper Jhene Aiko graced Tallahassee with her presence for its own magical moment.
The California-based singer, often described as fairy-like for her use of sound bowls to create enchanting melodies, is widely popular for her sensual and reflective R&B songs that allude to her personal trials and triumphs in relationships and paths of self-discovery, especially with long-time partner, rapper Big Sean.
According to posts on the Facebook social media group, Living Tallahassee, the 2020 iHeartRadio Music Award winner for R&B Album of the Year was travelling on her tour bus to her next stop in Houston, Texas, for a July 10 concert, when she made a couple of quick stops in Florida's capital before reaching her next destination.
The lucky establishments where she was spotted include Clean Eatz and Tallulah, the woman-owned and locally operated stores that offer CBD, mushrooms and THC. She dropped in at the Railroad Avenue and Midtown locations.
The singer has been vocal of her appreciation and use of these products, which she alludes to helping foster her creativity and consciousness with songs like "Sativa," "Spotless Mind," "Tryna Smoke," and others.
Fans who were just browsing at the stores at the right moment snagged pictures and quick conversations with the artist, disguised but easily spotted in a "Family Guy" T-shirt featuring character Stewie Griffin and a camo cowgirl hat while making purchases.
Those who got to encounter her described her as the "sweetest." Zach Young, a store associate at Tallulah's Railroad Avenue location, described her as "chill."
Tallulah owner Ashley Guy said the singer unexpectedly stopped at the Midtown locations first with her security guard, buying gifts for those joining along with her on tour, before making her way to the Railroad Avenue location, where she casually browsed for additional items for five to 10 minutes.
Young said he and the rest of the staff were playing it cool, while also "fan-girling" over the star's brief visit.
It didn’t take long for fans to react to social media posts of the singer's unannounced appearances in the capital. Those who missed out also shared their disappoint in their comments. One user commented, "Omg I would have loved to see her!" Another wrote, "I’m sooo jelly! I normally come to your locations ... the one time I don’t, I miss her."
Aiko has 16 stops left on her tour, having concluded her Florida shows with performances in Orlando and Sunrise.
