Rapper YG arrested on suspicion of robbery days ahead of Grammys performance
Rapper YG was arrested at his Los Angeles home just days ahead of his scheduled performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday.
The 29-year-old Compton rapper, whose real name is Keenon Jackson, was taken into custody by the Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies Friday on suspicion of robbery.
"Detectives served a search warrant this morning … in the furtherance of an on-going criminal investigation," reads a police report provided to USA TODAY by Deputy James Nagao. "YG, a resident at the home, was taken into custody at the time of the (search) pursuant to an arrest warrant."
He was booked at Men's Central Jail in Los Angeles and is being held on $250,000 bail ahead of his arraignment Tuesday, Nagao said.

YG's arrest comes just two days before he's scheduled to perform in a Grammys tribute to his close friend Nipsey Hussle, a fellow rapper who was gunned down outside his Marathon clothing store in South Los Angeles in March 2019.
DJ Khaled, John Legend, Roddy Ricch, Kirk Franklin and Meek Mill will also participate in the tribute to honor the legacy of Hussle, who is nominated for three awards this year including best rap song.
In December, YG remembered Hussle on Instagram, writing, "Success is a blessing & all but 2019 took my brother. I’ll give all this… back & some to get my (expletive) back. I miss you foo."

In July, the sheriff’s office searched YG’s Hollywood Hills home in connection with a police shooting in Compton that killed a bystander. YG had not been implicated in the shooting and was not home at the time of the search, authorities said at the time.
Deputy James Nagao said Friday he did not have any information if the robbery and shooting were connected.
