Rapsody Teases “Next Season” Of Music In New Trailer
Rapsody is teasing her music career’s “next season” in a new trailer. The Roc Nation emcee hit X/Twitter on Thursday (Nov. 9) with a minute-long teaser. The black and white footage gives a behind the scenes look at the music video for her latest single, “Asteroids.”
The clip also finds the emcee deep in thought, posing for a camera, and driving in a car. The entertainer is seen dressed in a Matrix-like leather ensemble as she speaks about her return. Rapsody also talks about “unplugging from the illusions” to cap off the Neo and Trinity references.
“It’s been four years; what an amazing warm welcome back,” she began. “It feels good to me to be back and sharing new art. And it took me four years but I wanted to do something that showed growth, more me, fearlessness, confidence, that showed a becoming, and this is my next season—my becoming. It feels good to start with ‘Asteroids.’
Thank you for the warm welcome back. We’re just getting started. ?#Asteroids #RapIsBack #WheresTheAlbum pic.twitter.com/uRqVh1insF

“One, of course, I had to come with the bars for the fanbase—that’s what I’m known for, but I wanted to reclaim my spot and who I am. And not by anybody else’s standards, numbers, boxes, or what they thought I should do or should be. I just wanted to show up as myself: proud, confident, and taking ownership of how I want to show up in the world. Holding my gift that God gave me close…This song, this video, is a representation of freedom. Realizing your reality and unplugging from the illusions and the matrix of all of it. From social media, numbers, accolades, and just being free. So, thank you. Rap back.”
Rapsody returned with the Hit-Boy-produced track, “Asteroids,” on Oct. 30. Much like her trailer suggests, “Asteroids” found Rap reclaiming her throne as the “most respected” artist. She uses the track as a warning shot to those who have counted her out. The Jamla artist also flexes her lyrical prowess, illustrating why icons like Jay-Z and 9th Wonder co-sign her greatness.
Although the “Asteroids” music video dropped on Nov. 3, behind-the-scenes footage has been sprinkled on her social media platforms for fans.
