Ray Romano: People Just Know Me for 'Ice Age' Now
It’s hard to believe it, but it’s been over a decade since Everybody Loves Raymond left the air. The show was a huge hit when it aired and had lots of fans, but for whatever reason it hasn’t had quite the same staying power of other sitcoms from the ’90s like Seinfeld or Friends. Raymond’s star, Ray Romano, sitting alongside his Ice Age: Collision Course co-star Queen Latifah, chatted with Yahoo Movies Senior Editor Kevin Polowy about how people these days tend to know him less for his hit sitcom and more for his animated movie franchise.
“It’s kind of interesting that people just know me for Ice Age now. People will say, ‘Oh, it’s Manny from Ice Age.’ And you’re like, ‘I have other credits.’ But I’m proud of it.”
Romano explained how kids, the main audience for the Ice Age franchise, don’t necessarily recognize him when he’s out and about. “The parents will see [me] and tell the kid, ‘That’s Manny from Ice Age.’ And then they’ll get it together.”
